It’s so hard to believe college is half over. i learned so much not only about myself, but about life during these past 9 months, than in all my 20 years. i explored, strengthened bonds, and pushed myself far out of my safety zone...this year i also realized that i had such a narrow-minded view of guys...in the past, i would only consider going out with certain ‘types’ and i finally realized that that attitude only limited me...so this year i discovered things i didn’t even know i wanted, and i’m thankful for those experiences...just this quarter alone has taken me on a wild ride and i wouldn’t change a thing about it. thank you to those of you who were always there to support me. you know who you are =). this year has been beyond memorable and wonderful, but i can’t wait to delve into next year, explore more, and live fully and unhurriedly.
side note: san diego was much fun with pui! we did all the fun touristy stuff...the wildlife animal park, zoo, and sea world, to name a few…she’s very fun to travel with, even though we argue! haha =)

diana and i also went to the stepford wives premiere! we actually got a picture with leelee sobieski! wow! still can't believe that happened...

This quarter has FLOWN by. heck, the whole school year has! it’s been an amazing few weeks, from culture nites, playing tennis and intramural soccer, etc…i’ve been so busy with activities…i guess its making up for my slight lack of involvement earlier in the year. we went to a tv taping of ‘the late late show with craig kilborn’ at cbs studios—that was an interesting experience…there was only room for less than a hundred people in the audience--that was surprising…and it got tedious when we were forced to give constant standing ovations and laugh at the not-so-funny jokes…but it was pretty cool, to see the people interviewed and stuff. i’d go again…or maybe to a different one. Last week was simply awesome. diana got us free tickets to the premiere of “saved,” so mandy moore and macauley culkin were sitting 6 rows behind us! so were the other castmembers, as well as seth green, adam brody and rachel bilson from the OC, some wb stars, and others. it’s soo weird to watch a movie with the people actually in it! at the end, i got patrick fugit’s autograph quickly (he was in “almost famous”) before he left. i liked his character in this movie. =) haha he had this one line where he asked the girl out, and she said she wasn’t dating rite now…and he said, “what about tomorrow? Will you be dating tomorrow?” lol…so cute. We saw a free viewing of troy as well, and i have mixed feelings about that movie. it was actually kinda funny…and it wasn’t supposed to be funny…and everyone just laughed when orlando bloom came on, cuz he had a wimpy role, poor guy. however, the action scenes were, of course, excellent. i loved eric bana’s character, hector! Then, saturday, may 15, was the long-anticipated formal!! it was held at the ucla hammer museum in westwood—such a pretty place, and it was partially open-air too…like there was no ceiling above the dance floor, just the beautiful sky and high-rises. even with the extra air, the dance floor still was unbearably hot, of course ;) it was a great evening, even though the dj was terrible at times! there were some art exhibits open too. we of course went picture crazy…our dates were such great sports, gotta love em! and all in all it was a lovely night =)

Let’s see, this quarter has been really busy. in the end of january, diana, kim, and i took a mini road trip to santa barbara for a coupla days. we went sightseeing and saw refugio beach, el capitan. too bad it was cloudy, but it kinda brightened up later. we also went to the bee-yoo-ti-ful santa barbara mission! aaah it’s so lovely…and we went to the courthouse. We saw weddings at both of these places!
Then diana and i went to the semiformal which wasn’t as bad as i expected. 2 south went too, and sana and grant showed up, so it was fun. the dance marathon was the next weekend, but i was sooo sick, that i couldn’t really enjoy it as much. i literally had pinkeye and god knows what else, but im still sick. then on president’s day weekend, everyone was going home, so since i had a free ticket, i spontaneously decided like 4 days in advance, to go home as well. that was a goooood decision. i even got to see pui and she got me the pirates of the caribbean dvd for my birthday!! On the 19th, krystina, camille, and i went to the ucla vs. cal bball game and we won finally! 66 to 49!! i just love these athletic events cuz they actually pump you up and make you feel so proud to be a bruin. on my real bday, i was feeling kinda blah just cuz it was raining…but i got to talk to a lotta friends and relatives I haven’t talked to in awhile, so that was nice. =) and at dinner, camille was like, “yea, sorry we couldn’t do anything for ur bday…its been a hard week...” and i understood, cuz i didn’t expect anything anyway…but then when we went back to our room, cindy, nandini and nelson popped outta nowhere in the dark and totally surprised me!! i screamed like hell (you know me =D) and they made me a birthday banner and camille bought me a brownie-like cake thing and a pretty necklace with pearls on it. we played pin the tail on the donkey too! haha fun stuff! later on diana and pat came and we dressed up for the heck of it and took pictures. amy called again and we talked for awhile. didn’t sleep til 3, and woke up this morning feeling sick again, but it was soooo worth it! a big thanks to everyone! =D

It has been a great quarter so far. on saturday, we went with 2 south to venice beach. camille and i rented a tandem (2 person bicycle). it was sooo fun! i liked being in the back, cuz you can literally close your eyes and not hold on to the handle bars. (not that im advocating it, lol 0;-) ). we almost rode all the way to the santa monica pier, but we only had the bike for an hour.

Then on sunday, it was mila’s bday, so we to sherman oaks galeria to the cheesecake factory. it looks pretty much like the one in sf, even down to the décor. there were 8 of us, so we all pretty much ordered one cheesecake each and just sampled everyone’s. yummmmmmmmyyyy….*drool*. on top of that, we ate at fuddrucker’s afterwards, so we were all ready to explode by the time we went back.

Vietnamese culture nite started at 7; we went to support diana, who was in the fashion show! trinh was in a fan dance, which was my fave part. it was fun, and later they had an afterparty at fu’s palace. chris got me a ride, and we met up with diana and trinh there. we ate good chinese food, then danced it all off. It was pretty fun, since I haven’t been in awhile.

The LOTR premiere was last nite!! i was so mad at first when diana and i had to stand across the street instead of by starbucks where we were last time, but fate intervened, as i will explain. first, ian mckellan came across the street--people were already going crazy over him--think about what it was like when orlando bloom came!!! Then john rhys-davies (gimli--the troll guy) came over, as well as andy serkis (gollum's voice), sean astin (sam), billy boyd (pippin), and viggo mortensen. we also saw liv tyler, dominic monaghan (merry), peter jackson, rob schneider, david hasselhoff, and good charlotte, and a glimpse of elijah in the end. when orlando arrived, there was chaos, and i admit i was one of the screaming girls. He was so sweet though--he went over to all 4 corners where there were fans and took the time to sign autographs--i got one too--yay! he was standing in front of me for a good 20 seconds, and i was thinkin, "if he stands there a second longer, he's gonna get raped!" =X Lucky for him, he moved, but damn, he was hot in person. i never really liked him with the short brown hair, but it was workin tonite! one girl's shirt said "bloom me"--not a bad idea! 0=)
we got back that nite absolutely exhausted, from the people pushing, screaming, and all that is included in such events, and i got absolutely no work done. fell asleep and had sweet dreams after watching keanu reeves on letterman. i swear, too much hotness in one day!!
oh! and today christina said she saw me on Extra!!!!!!
ChiAngl643: hey i was watching extra tonight ChiAngl643: i think i saw you on the lotr primiere story Surfergurl220: OMG OMG!!!!! ChiAngl643: it was like of a sec or two ChiAngl643: but yeah Surfergurl220: WHOA!! ChiAngl643: shit juliana ChiAngl643: you're a crazy screaming fan Surfergurl220: HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA Surfergurl220: HELL YEA ChiAngl643: we have the film footage to prove it now
other than that, what an eventful week this has been! i came back to UCLA sunday nite after a glorious 5-ish day vacation at home sweet home. it was fun, got to do a lil shoppin, drive (which i miss doing), and see a few people. pui and i even studied bio--can u believe it? can't wait to go back home next week--god i love this season.

What Finding Nemo Character are You? brought to you by Quizilla
Well finally midterms are OVER! dear god, i had AT LEAST one every damn week since week 3 and it is week 7 now. tonite, camille and i went to see a women's volleyball game against cal, and then met chris at drake to see our #2 women's soccer team in the playoffs. it was fun! i need to attend more sports events, especially cuz they're free!! hahaha...
Last week, diana, trinh, eva, an and i went clubbin with nsu in downtown LA. it was sooo stuffy in there! i was absolutely exhausted afterwards--i think i'm all clubbed out for now =P. there was a cute guy from 'sc that pretended to bump into me, then introduced himself. it was kinda funny. turns out he was 1/4 japanese and diana said some aspects of him reminded her of dean cain!
The next day, camille's family came from up north for the weekend. they took us to the westfield mall in century city, and we spent a few hours there and in sephora, lol. it was nice just to get off campus for awhile. =D

this halloween was definitely a memorable one. on thursday, diana, kim, and i went to a party/club in hollywood...diana was a genie, and i was a hawaiian grl i guess (minus the coconuts, hahahha =X). lol nothin spectacular 'cept a lei, slippers and tropical top. it was lots of fun, minus the scare we had along the way. a guy who looked exactly like perry shen was very very persistent...and he used the saddest lines in the world, like "oh think of it this way, i hit on you before i had anything to drink"--as if that's gonna make me more interested =P. i swear, he stayed around for 45 minutes, until we all had to leave...anyway, it was quite the experience, and i hereby pronounce it the "julietta, jasmine, and perry shen" nite.

the next nite, we were supposed to go out to west hollywood with john, but there was no room, and plus i don't think i would've survived an outdoor event without getting pneumonia. thus, we made last minute plans to supposedly go clubbin/partying with eva and her roomie's friends. let me just say it was the complete opposite of what we expected - apparently only the driver knew what kind of party it really was...and when we got there, diana and i just laughed and made the most of it. hey, at least they had appetizers =P.

well it's already been a month of school - so hard to believe. it has been hectic, but so much fun at the same time. i love our room (and my roomie camille of course!)! it is so spacious and i am spoiled by having our own bathroom/shower! heehee. aside from studying for midterms that never end, i have managed to go clubbin, to football games, etc, to keep my sanity, haha. oh yea, and playing taboo in 2 south for 4 hours straight...good times...i guess i am trying to be more involved and do even more things this year...i mean we're only here for 3 more years...so we might as well live it up rite? =D
our football team has been doing so well this year! i am so proud of them!! they even played fireworks during halftime agaisnt sdsu. (haha now we know where our increased tuition is going towards). we beat ASU today!! whoohoo! go bruins!! now if we could only beat usc...
our homecoming parade was last nite in westwood. diana and i went, and i'm soo glad we did. a lot of alumni were there and the floats were pretty awesome--complete with elvis impersonators on them - that was hilarious. then, awaken acapella performed at the rally--they are soo talented! oh! and kimberly locke from american idol performed her upcoming single. afterwards, diana and i just vegetated 'til 4 am. we had a great conversation about guys, family...everything imaginable...i miss those kinds of long talks...this was a wonderful end to such a stressful week.

You represent... hope. You're quite a daydreamer and can be a hopeless romantic. You enjoy being creative and don't mind being alone at times. You have goals, and know what you want in life... even if they are a little far fetched.

It was MUCH fun with pui and christina this weekend! They came on Saturday, and it worked out really well, cuz both my roomies were gone for the weekend. We just chilled on Saturday...pui got to meet the 2 south crew...its so weird, cindy and nelson hav met all of my Fremont grls, so kewl. we went to see the Matrix instead at midnite. i thot it was pretty good...a lot more impressive scenes than the first one, but I think they made neo seem too invincible...it wasn’t believable. Sunday, we went to the Getty...soo soo pretty there! The architecture and botanical gardens were beautiful. i mean for a free museum, it was amazing...then we went to the howard hughes promenade, ate some good ol Japanese food...I miss that...then we went to 3rd street promenade in Santa Monica. The highlight was the street performers! Soo funny! remember pui? “now u cheap asses start comin back” “all u that didn’t donate, we kno where u parked! Nah im jus playin, we cant jack ur car, cuz we on probation!” “if u liked the show, let the money basket kno!” “a good nation is a donation!" it may not sound funny reading it; you had to have been there!! then pui and I got matching Venice beach tank tops and we actually bargained for a cheaper price…the stupid guy was like “oh stretchy stretchy!!” and almost ripped the damn things in half...like he had to make them defective in order for us to get them cheaper, lol. But it’s all good :-D ...after Christina left, we just watched the punk’d marathon…hilarious show…
Ok Monday...finally got sunny n warm-ish…gave pui her tour of ucla at 9:00…cant believe she walked over the whole campus w/ out complaining bout the hills, proud of ya pui! Haha… and she got her pic in front of the med school. After brunch, she, Diana, and I went on an adventure to Venice beach! It was soo wonderful just walkin along the soft sand…got souvenirs, took silly pix, then headed to yet another beach, well it was the Santa Monica Pier…we even got to ride the carousel for the child’s price! Whoohoo! We were exhausted and starving by the time we got back, around 6-ish. Later on, pui and I played ping pong, then stayed up til 3:30 just chattin…fun shtuff…we had a LOT of catchin up to do! all in all, the perfect weekend, almost forgot how much I missed my lil rat, lol. was a much needed break…and I was worried that there wouldn’t be enough stuff for us to do, but things worked out a lot better than I thought. *sigh* now back to the grind and then we’re OUT!

the matrix premiere was amazing. diana and i just got soo lucky! we saw soo many celebrities, i can't remember them all. i actually got autographs from keanu reeves (*sigh*), lucy liu (she was so nice, she actually asked for my name), wayne brady, and ashley parker angel. also saw dean cain (yum! lol), sandra bullock, demi moore, will smith, jada pinkett-smith, jon voigt, carrie-ann moss, laurence fishburne, other cast members of the matrix, chris klein, katie holmes, joshua jackson, alyssa milano, jamie kennedy, linkin park, tori spelling, heidi klum, christina millian, nick cannon, rick yune, fred durst, jon lovitz, tom arnold, etc etc. it was completely overwhelming. took almost 2 rolls of film, hehehe. hope they turn out! :-D

It was a really fun weekend! on friday, camille's friend janice came from fremont. i haven't seen her in a lonnnngg time. we went to spring sing at 6...it's basically a talent show with skits, singing, and dancing and they have celebrity judges and watnot...last year stevie wonder came and performed; wish i couldve seen that...anyway, it was held outdoors, and just our luck, it started raining reallllly hard...i had 4 layers of clothing on, including a poncho, and my jeans were still soaked! aiyah! we sat in the endless rain for 3 hours, freezing like we were in siberia!! it was a really good show, but we couldn't survive past the first act. gotta give the performers a lotta credit, for almost flawlessly dancing on a wet stage...i mean if we were cold...i can't imagine how they felt. i dont think i would be able to do that. Afterwards, i went to cindy's room to see rick. he came with a few friends for the weekend for a videogame tournament. we watched bowling for columbine, which was pretty good...made you think...and it was funny watching the stupid people that were interviewed. Then on saturday, camille, janice, and I went to see nelson's fencing tournament. he got third place! then we watched better luck tomorrow...that was...disturbing to say the least, but it was interesting cuz it portrayed a totally different point of view. At 6, we went to pilipino culture nite...the dances were amazing...how they manuevered with lit candles on their heads and balanced on 2 sticks held high in the air...was pretty amazing... Then at 2 am, we started watching a walk on the clouds, *sigh*...the perfect movie to ensure sweet dreams for the nite, lol... Must start hw and packing now!! yikes!

This weekend was the perfect medicine for such a long and stressful week. After 2 midterms and a paper on friday, it was time for a break! Christina came to visit me from sd on saturday!!! we went to the book festival at ucla, and briefly saw amy tan singing on stage. Missed ray bradbury, matt groening, john lithgow, etc. oh well, we had fun anyway!;-D At around 6, we left for downtown disney. took almost 2 hours to get there (and only 30 min on the way back :-P)!! argh! we ate at the rainforest cafe, then goofed around in the store trying on funky hats and taking pix...very remniscient of that day at 6 flags in the summer...lol... We saw tons of prople all dressed up for prom there! it was so exciting! haha i dunno, i just love seeing people in their gowns and tuxes... Anyway, we did a lil more shopping and taking silly pix...with this sleeping lego man, who snored too! it was pretty freaky! That nite, we called amy and anh thu and we kinda had a 4-way convo; it was pretty fun! both of my roommates were gone for the nite, and it felt like the sissies ('cept pui ;-/) were all in my room, just chillin... Then today...went to westside pavilion for a lil more shopping, muahahaha... All in all, it was a nice chance to get out and do somethin for the weekend and even better that i got to see Christina again! thanx for making this a great weekend! *hugs!!!*

Today was fun, we went to Venice Beach!! oy but we got so windblasted! in other words, we all had a lotta sand in our mouths by the end of the day, hehe. Anyway, we actually went into the water. It was cold, but nice...attempted to make sand castles, lol, and found some oyster shells too! Then, we went browsed by the street vendors...it was strangely berkeley-ish...like there were tye dye shirts and strange people performing acts on the sidewalk. There was also a short guy whose feet were pointed in the opposite direction--like his toes were pointing behind him...but the guy was dancing up a storm...it was pretty amazing that he could do that with such a handicap... so yea, now I'm thoroughly exhausted, but it was nice to go out for the day. ;-)
